I don’t know if you were ever a high-school student but there are certain times where you need a break from the busyness to bask in the blessings that God has given you. That is exactly what we experienced this last weekend here at Weimar Academy. We had the amazing opportunity to go spend the weekend camping at Little Basin Campground near Santa Cruz. Camping trips here are a lot different because the purpose isn’t just to enjoy the gorgeous nature but to get to know more deeply the loving God that created nature. We have a tradition of each campout spending Sabbath School time having one on one time with God for an hour. This is honestly the highlight of every campout for me because it is truly just a time where we get to be still and know that He is God. Sometimes it is so easy to get stuck up on the distractions and the schoolwork and lose track of our Heavenly Father. I am thankful for this campout where we were able to go and find God in nature and bring back that experience to strengthen us for the rest of the year.
We also had the opportunity to go for the day on Sunday to Monterey Bay. While we were there we were able to go to the Aquarium and see more of the beautiful creation that God made to make us happy. To conclude this amazing weekend we took a trip to Carmel Beach. This was the biggest blessing of the campout for me. Students were able to swim, play various games on the sand, and enjoy the peace of the Ocean. As I watched the sunset on the beach that evening, I was reminded of my Creator and His love for me. I am so thankful for this trip where we were able to commune with God in His second book and be encouraged to finish the year off powerfully.
