Weimar Dress Standards
Why Have Dress Standards?
To put it simply, we have these standards to help educate our students to dress modestly in different life situations. We do this because in the book Child Guidance p.419, Ellen White counsels that “No education can be complete that does not teach right principles in regard to dress.”
Clothing is to be selected primarily for its potential to minister to others and for personal health, while recognizing God-given individuality and practical judgment. The aim in personal appearance should be to reflect our Christian mission, rather than express our own personal independence. However, this does not mean that we should dress extremely. Once again in Child Guidance p.413, the instruction is given, “In dress, as in all things else, it is our privilege to honor our Creator. He desires our clothing to be not only neat and healthful, but appropriate and becoming.”
We hope that this brochure clearly explains the standards at Weimar Academy. If you are looking for a more descriptive list of acceptable clothing at Weimar, please consult our handbook.
“Therefore, whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Cor 10:31
